You need a tune for it. Tial is one of the top names. It's kind of a pointless modification if you're staying stock and that is your ONLY mod.

I'm getting new WRX this spring after I get my work performance bonus. I don't really care about modifications but do like the sound of a loud waste gate. My question is what is a good aftermarket waste gate for WRX's with a nice sound and other than expelling excess exhaust it can't screw anything up can it if this would be the only thing I changed? Thanks.

Tial, but like Jimmy said, it has to be properly tuned for.. you will need to do a full exhaust system at the very least.
By adding the EWG alone and not tuning for it or anything, could it screw anything up? I would expect it to ruin the engine.. at some point (probably sooner than later).
Agreed on both posts above.
You'll need a tune to correct the boost levels. You'll have fitment issues with the stock exhaust as well.
An external waste gate is not a light modification to these cars. Consider a cold air intake and a Cobb access port if you just want a bit more noise from the waste gate in the cabin.
