What were your oil temps with the stock one?

Most people don't bother with an oil cooler unless they are road course racing. On a street-driven vehicle, any "upgraded" oil cooler would be a waste of money.

I am going to go out on a limb and say I doubt the factory oil cooler had anything to do with your engine malfunctions.

Agreed with EJ on the above note.

A few guys over on iWSTi had issues with their car overheating at the track. It seemed that the oil cooler was helpful, but not the first thing inline by any means. Without some serious modifications, I would expect the oil cooler to introduce more possible issues than to clear any up.

If you are sure it is due to overheating (which I highly doubt unless you are on a road track with a FMIC), I would look to block off the hood scoop provided you are running a FMIC. That seems to be the most significant cooling aid out there. No first hand experience.

I'd leave the stock. If you have had engine issues, I'd look to get a better tuner rather than throwing any more money at the car. No reason you should be blowing through engines.
