Grimmspeed 3 Port electronic boost solenoid

Would it be worth installing a Grimmspeed 3 port electronic boost solenoid now although a tune will be 6 months away?
    Is there any immediate benefits?
    Thanks

    Agreed on Will's feedback.

A boost control solenoid will require a tune. It is easy enough to install, you may as well do it right before you get it tuned.

You can't drive it without being tuned, so... no.

It's a 10-minute install. Do it in the shop parking lot when you get to the tune.

Does anyone use the GM 3 ports? They are like 30.00 or something. Although Grimmspeed's customer service is definitely top notch.

Plenty of people have used the GM unit.. it's definitely an upgrade from our stock 2-port EBCS.

I just had heard a lot of Evo X guys that used them over the GS... basically over price, not quality or anything. I myself am considering going back to a MBC... yes it's a dinosaur, but being able to manually bring the boost down makes me feel good in the case of the car suddenly overboosting or anything.

You shouldn't be manually changing boost levels without adjusting the tune accordingly.

    This.

With the GM boost solenoid, you will need to splice into the stock wire harness. If you are to go with any EBCS, I would suggest the Perrin unit. If you really want the boost control of a MBC, I'd go with the hybrid boost control setup. Either way, I'd stay away from running an MBC alone due to PTFB conditions and the potential for damage.

No, I wouldn't either, but my point is simply that if it happens to be overboosting or anything that I can manually turn it down.

I've heard good things about the Cobb unit as well. I personally have the GrimmSpeed EBCS and no complaints here. I'm getting ready to add a GS MBC as well and run hybrid.

I like that the GS part has a special bracket and looks somewhat factory when mounted. I'm going to go with one of theirs, and likely install just before I re-flash a new tune. Rumor has it I have a Phatboti tune coming for xmas...
