    Smoke from hood scoop

I have read around other posts and decided to start my own. To start off i am not driving my car today, she is resting and i am driving my wife's PRIUS!!! (god help me)
This is the second time i have noticed this. First time it happened i stopped at a light and smoke started coming out of the hood scoop. It smelled kinda like burnt popcorn. I pulled over and checked out the engine bay but couldn't find anything out of place. That was a few weeks ago and today it happened again. I think it may be a coolant issue because i did notice a couple off dried up puddles off what i think is coolant around the bay. not much but thats the only thing i noticed. Can anybody give me some guidance on this. I know there are tons of "smoke" threads but maybe someone had this similar problem. lol does coolant smell like burnt popcorn when its heated up?

It may smell different to everyone. Have you checked all your fluid levels?

yes, like i said i checked the whole bay out pretty closely but couldn't find anything out of the norm. Just the small puddles of what looks like dried up coolant. I am thinking coolant might be leaking from a line somewhere and getting supper heated on some sort of exhaust/turbo piping. I will have to check it out again later and maybe post some pics.

Just follow the coolant lines and feel them for rips, tears, loose clamps, etc. I'd start with the lines around the area that you've found puddles. Your car is 10 years old and I'm sure heat stress has taken some toll on your hoses and what not.

Drews is practically captain Nemo but he uses his car for the submarine.

Unfortunately it is often the radiator itself. The end tanks crack. Mishimoto is what most of us have used.

Mine started smoking this weekend - the all to common CV boot tear under the turbo that throws grease on the DP.

First pic is some of the dried up coolant, second pic is perhaps some blow by on the vacuum lines? 3rd pic is an overall look of the engine bay.

It looks like a few of those hoses were replaced recently.

    Pretty normal.

I think you might just need a new cap on that tank.
