I know in my G8 when it was tuned for intake/headers/catback, the pre cat O2 sensors were turned off and not used, and all associated cels were disabled. This is standard procedure nothing special. Easy enough and pretty universal.

If you go catless, the AP (or a protune) will have the ability to disable the CEL caused by that.

And no, the midpipe should not have a cat in it. But a resonator, yes.

Okay, so I feel I just stumbled upon a "blame Lokey" party. :-) If I'm helping you by being the guinea pig, it's all good.

    Only my recommendations/advice:

J_Maher_WRX - 1) No CEL. As G8toWRXDave and Mikie13 said, AP takes care of that. DP verbiage: "Because this product replaces/removes an OEM emissions control device, we must state that this product is for offroad use only." 2)Baby steps. Enjoy Stage 1, save up, then get the Cobb DP. It leaves your options for catback wide open. + You'll love the peace of mind of having a quality product, a tune made for it, and a stink-eliminating cat.

Stu_Gotti - Do it...do it. The DP will make the itch go away...though a new one will certainly break out soon after. :-)

groverdrill - You'll love the Cobb DP to stock catback. It gives a slight increase in rumble (due to the smaller/high-flow cat), but is still very subtle and tame....unlike mine now.

xFalleNx - 2 for 2, Mr. smarty pants. You go, bro!!!

Sinister, how long have you had that setup?? Has there been any leaks?

And guys, is the boost creep associated with just the fact that there is no Cat in the downpipe? or is it due to a potential leak???

I know I know "baby-steps" .... EFF that! haha I can't help it, I'm an impatient guy! And if I were to save up for a catted DP, it will most definitely be a Nameless DP, that thing is slick man.

Like I said in my original post, this Catless DP will just be a 'temporary' thing, until I trade my WRX in on an STi in a couple of years, where I will be immediately replacing the Invidia with the Nameless DP, and therefore having a full NP TBE.

My biggest concern is this boost creep issue, as the grimmspeed adapter seems to be a fairly good option in terms of eliminating exhaust leak.

    It's due to the wastegate.

So am I right to say that Boost Creep is just as likely to occur with either a catted or catless Divorced DP??

Could occur...boost creep isn't as big of an issue in newer models as any turbo post VF39 is made with larger wastegate openings to combat creep. Proper tuning also helps to eliminate the possibility of boost creep.

On that note, I have a freakin catless DP sitting in my basement waiting to go on...I just have to get the tune portion sorted out for when I'm ready to go.

    That's a band-aid approach, one I wouldn't do personally.

Porting the wastegate or going external is the proper method.
