A video just doesn't do the exhaust justice. Different camera qualities, compressions, etc. all will distort the way the exhaust sounds in the video. If you want an accurate representation, you have to hear the exhaust in-person.

I was referring to the intake, he still has a stock exhaust. I know, same thing applies with a sound clip. I just wanted an idea of what the AEM intake sounded like. If I go stage 2 chances are I will just get a DP to keep everything sounding stock. It's hard to justify over $1100 for an intake and exhaust when both Cobb and Perrin claim very small gains from either while the down pipe makes the biggest difference.

Anyway, I got my Cobb AP today!! Uploaded the Perrin stage 1 93 octane map and took her for a spin and WOW did it impress me. The power is smooth and much stronger. You can really feel the torque difference as it actually pulls you into the seat in 3rd gear now. I know the Perrin maps are claimed to be more aggressive but I will probably give it a few hundred miles and then try the Cobb map just to compare.

If stage 1 made this much difference I wonder what stage 2 feels like...

The stage 1 vs stage 2 comparisons....on the ACN91 maps the difference is likely even less than the small increase already noted in this thread. But you still get that bulk of additional torque down low and that is all completely usable power that you constant dip into.

And while I am a true Perrin fanatic and love them...their tunes IMO are too aggressive for CA drivers beause of the crap fuel we have here. I was overboosting on their stage 2 CA-91 tune and after a revision it still happened. I know in OR they get 93 octane so I think their 91 quality up there is significantly better than in CA. Even the more conservative CA 91 tune giving me problems (this was with Perrin's dropin filter) made me just give up on it and switch over to the Cobb (with stock filter) which has been problem-free. Even after the AEM install and reflash.

My impressions were that the Perrin was more aggressive and felt better, but the Cobb is smoother (and has never given me a CEL).

But even having issues with their tunes (it could just be my car, who knows), I still buy all my stuff from Perrin. And I have their drop-in filter that has about 200 miles on it that I would sell to anyone who wants it. PM me.

ElVerde - Hey dude, we should finally meet up one of these days! Glad to hear about your progress in this thread. I'm stage2+AEM so you can get a feel for that and compare it to your car. Plus I have the Perrin exhaust which is freaking amazing, so if nothing else you can hear that to compare with other options you may be looking into. Maybe we can even take some pics/vids while we're at it.

P.S. To all of you that have 93 or even "good" 91....I'm jealous.

+1000000 to this. It's so frustrating to know that I have to run a less agressive tune simply because of my geographic location.

I'm very down to meet up and check out the cars...even though I'm still jealous about how far behind you on the mod list I am. At least I have the Perrin 2" antenna and you don't I'm genuinely scared to hear that Perrin exhaust because I know I'll want it afterward and I was planning on staying stock until out of the warranty. Your car is going to make me crave that downpipe too I think. I really like Perrins products based on the reviews I've heard as well...I'm very tempted to pick up their sways and endlinks but I kind of enjoy my nice soft ride as my DD.

I'm in Newport Beach and could meet up on a weekend for sure, maybe even this Sunday. I'm trying to think of a good spot for photos but nothing is coming to mind...

Sadly the closest E85 is about 100 miles round trip from where i live...

You don't think I would've thought of that before!?

EDIT: Unless you mean (pardon the stereotype) move to the south/midwest and begin using meth.

I guess that is a good thing now that I have a wrx. I use Sunoco Ultra 93 which seems to be working well. It's like 5 or 10 cents more than Premium 91 but oh well. Either way it's getting painful to fill up with the rising cost of fuel.

My 05LGT Cobb STGII idled lower. Not a bad thing unless the engine dies
Yes dear polishing the underside of the rocker panels IS important.

My 2011 idles in the same range as yours after the stage I flash. No issues yet!

ElVerde- have you tried using the AP for recording 0-60 and 1/4 mile times? I actually just noticed it had those features today and wondered if they are accurate?

I have not used those functions yet...mostly because I really don't like to launch the car at all.

I have heard, however, that the times are very unreliable.

Same here. I've done 3-4 launches from around 3500rpms just to get a feel for it. More of an aggressive start than a launch.

You still feeling the itch for stage 2? I am trying to talk myself out of a down pipe daily.
