Then we have no way to pass the inspection, right? no matter what the output shows.

    How about aftermarket catback?

Technically, you are right. A catback exaust does not replace any OEM emissions devices, so it is street legal (unless there are noise-level statutes in your region, in which case it depends on the exhaust)

inspections here are once every two years. takes me under 30 minutes to pull a DP and put in back on. so put the stock one on, get looked at, take it back off. hour or two of your saturday gone and then your good for two years, whys this hard?

    Kevin, you're full of crap.

My STi passed emissions just fine the first time around with one cat (Cobb catted DP). After I let it sit for a while and had to renew it, it failed miserably. I attribute that to letting it sit for a while.

Seriously, I'm not sure why I passed just fine the first time and failed miserably the second time around.

Catback doesn't matter.. those portions of the exhaust control sound/routing.. they dont have any influence on emissions.

^^ Not necessarily... Any turbo subaru has high EGTs... but NA blocks do not. For some reason the 2006/07 2.5 Imprezas do have high NOx... but only in cold weather. There was something up at the testing station regarding the 2.5 Impreza from 06/07

Hate to throw more fuel on the fire but I passed a few months ago in CT. Catless DP with a cat in my midpipe.

Don't remember if we have a visual, but it doesn't look stock. I have the print out where I passed everyhting with flying colors. AP stage zwei.

What brand downpipe? What was your NOx reading? What is the NOx limit? What type of testing do they do? Idle? Drive? Dyno? Static? Accel/decel?

Hate to break it to you, but it is a cat. Looked at it myself during install. BPM turbo back.

From my inspection sheet I have "Visual Inspection Results Catalyst: Pass" and "Emission Test Results Test Type: ODB II RPM: 1118"

No numbers for different levels of things.

BPMs do have a cat and a resonator in the midpipe. So I believe you.

As for your inspection... if you were tested at 1118, that means it was probably an idle test. So you're lucky. You don't live in a state that does advanced smog testing.
