    Stock 2011 WRX Dyno numbers

Sorry if this is the wrong place mods move it if so please.

Car is 100% bone stock. 1700 miles just changed oil.
Had the car at Cobb Plano today for a baseline and this is what i got.

    Whp-251
    Wtq-255
Have Dyno print out just no scanner

I cant say enough about the guys at Cobb. Very easy to deal with and super friendly. Would do anything they can to show great customer service and accel at that.

    Thanks
    Josh

I didn't think their dyno read that high...

Glad you're happy with your experience there, at least.

Yell out the next number to come to your head. That number is close to what you really make than the AP's "dyno".

Just curious why you want spacers on coilovers. Did you really need that much of a lift?

yeah really tho haha i can 100% believe the 251 whp, due to the high efficiency of subarus symmetrical awd system when transferring power from the the engine to the wheels, but 255 lb/ft of tq?? thats 11 more than whats rated stock at the engine.. haha soo thinking somethings up there.

I'm thinkin their dyno just reads high. Either way , the dyno is just a tool to give you a starting point to measure gains after you make changes. The only way to get really accurate hp ratings is to yank the engine out of the car and run it on an engine dyno.

Both valid points but regardless the dyno, the 09+ WRX is putting down similar numbers as well as 1/4 mile times which would indicate the 265hp is underrated.

Likely not as much as it would seem initially I'll bet, but I'm sure it is under rated to a degree. On my local dyno the STI's are typically putting down 5 whp more and the same wtq as 09+ WRX's. 09+ WRX are ~215 whp/260 wtq and STI's 220-225 whp/260 wtq.

I'm sure the STI's drivetrain has more rotating mass and with more power it will lose a higher % of hp to the drivetrain. Not sure how much of a difference the 3rd gear WRX ratio vs the STI's 4th gear ratio would make at the wheels.

Looked a little closer, typical ranges here on a Dyno Dynamics:
    09+ WRX 215-220 whp 250-260 wtq
STI 220-225 whp 260 wtq for the most part

Both 4th gear ratios should be 1:1 or close to it. The 09 factory manual I have states that 4th on the wrx is .972 Diff's at 3.9:1 Dunno about the STI though.

WRX's dyno in 3rd, while STI's in 4th to get closer to the 1:1; gearing is voodoo to me however.

My thoughts are that a lot of the STI's difference in weight are likely in rotating parts of the drivetrain and the 09+ WRX has fully open diffs (not sure how much mass that saves).
