I guess it depends on what your looking for in h.p. / performance gains...I like the low end torque and power, my car has the Cobb Stage 2 map installed right now...I am not saying that headers do not make an improvement in the higher power band area..but they are very pricy for what you get out of them..
Well, another option is the Grimspeed setup...
As far as gains, 3rd party unrelated Subaru owners have seen ~15 whp/wtq gains, most notably in the low and mid range. You should also expect to see quicker spool up time.

Another vote here for changing it ASAP!
I changed mine recently and it was indeed starting to fall apart.
I swapped it for a TurboXS. Fitment was great with no leaks:

I've had a recoated Ebay special up in for about 5 years now. No flex section, no issues.

Wingless alas. Too bad it took a 50 ton truck to make it happen.
Sorry to revive an old thread. A quick video I did on the Resistor Mod for anyone having a hard time with it.
Hey guys, super new here, I'm about to buy an '03 wrx wagon that does not have the cat in the upipe.
Does anyone know about passing emissions (specifically in NC, but maybe just in general) if it doesn't have that?
