Turbo XS FMIC Help

I have serched the various boards on the subject and I was lucky enough to find a bit of info here but I still feel I have a problem. I purchased a TURBO XS FMIC which I am trying to install on a 2007 WRX. The IC does not fit!!!! Not to mention that all the products made for subarus NEVER have updated instructions and you have to figure everything out. Turbo XS install the show in there instructions have a 2004 car and the 2007 is very different fron the 04. If you have an 07 or know about this subject, I attached pictures. BTW no bumper support was included in this kit, other than that the kit is all here. By the way the IC looks; different than the one they have pictured; I thought it was just a different for on mounting the IC but I think I am wrong.

Tanks for the help.

Richard

Are you sure you have the right kit?
Turbo XS - WRX, STi, EVO SRT4, Subaru, Mitsubishi, Turbo, Turbocharged

Shows 2 different FMIC kits. One for the 02-05's and one for the 06-07's.Or try contacting Turbo XS and let them know they are slacking.

^ As said, there are 2 versions, hence why TurboXS maliciously neglected to update the manual that they knew you were going to get. Contact TXS if it did not come with the support beam.

Part number on the box matches the intercooler specified for the 2007. I feel i received the right one but since they only have one set of instructions(and it does not include 06-07 cars)on their website. Maybe they labled the box wrong!

I am having a similar problem. I ordered my intercooler for my 05 wrx and upon recieving it was a little curious that there was no replacement bumper beam. My core looks just like yours, with the parts from the bumper beam welded right onto the core. Have you resolved your issue yet? I can't find any information regarding the "new" design made by turbo xs.

You will not find any new info either as when I had this problem and e-mailed them about it they just blew me off; ironicly I like the intercooler. So you know there is NO bumper beam for the new style subis from 05-07 I believe. You remove the bumper beam completly and they include an angle bracket that is bolted to the middle of the radiator support and the intercooler.

I personally did not like the fact of no bumper beam so I modified the factory one.

Wait, you thought it was supposed to come with an actual bumper beam? Not a single FMIC on the market for WRXs come with one. They never have. They only come with support beams, which is the bracket you described. The only one that allows you to use a bumper beam (the stock one) is the old, tiny Injen FMIC.

I didnt get a bracket like you mentioned.. Yours looks very good, did you get a new intercooler? It looks like you dont have any of the tubes sticking out of the top of yours in that picture. How did you modify the stock beam? Like whatd you do to it and howd you do it? Here are some pictures of mine.

Support beam...bumper beam, what ever you wanna call it. Turbo XS install insturctions are for the older pre 05 cars with the "bug eyes" head lamps which came with a " bumper or support beam". On the newer cars, they give you a small angle braket to install instead of the support beam. Turbo XS has not update the install instructions for the newer cars which is why I started this thread 3 months ago during christmas vacation when nobody was available to take calls.

Not even the parts list coinside with the newer front mount. So I did what I had to do because some frontal crash protection is better than none. I also added steel re-enforcement to parts of the front crash beam.

Either way you put it, spending 1k plus for a front mount should at least include a decent set of instructions, or updated ones for that matter. I also wrote an e-mail to Turbo XS on this matter.

Richard

It looks from your pictures that it is in the zip-lock bag. It is a 90* angle bracket.

Thanks man much appreciated. So all the stuff still fits on your car? And that picture of the front end of your car, it appears that the top of your fmic has no welded things on it like mine does, is that just the picture or did you modify your fmic and cut them off? yeah I cannot find a single set of instructions, let alone a decent set. For instance, I have NO idea what the clear 3/4 inch tube with the wire spiraling through it is for. upper right in most of my pictures.

So I assumed you did some full blow cutting and welding of your bumper beam. It looks good.

yeah...I used a saws all to cut the aluminum studs from the top of the intercooler. The clear tubing is for the crankcase breater ports on the top of the cylinder heads. You can download the turbo XS instructions from their website. The instruction will fit your application about 80 percent. Also I wanted to show the community that this was possible.

ok two newbish questions. First is the replacement overflow bottle just the black tube with the tab coming off it? Im not at home so I cant look but Just wanna make sure it is what I think it is. Secondly, those aluminum studs, wtf are they for anyway? Clearly not that important if you just cut em off. im confused. Thanks.

Download the online instructions...they are about 80 percent compatable with the newer subies. the over flow bottle relocation is straight forward, you will remove the factory one. On the studs, if you mount the IC they way your supposed to, they do add top support for your bumper. I has to remove mine to have it fit under the crash beam.

I did download the instructions and read through them. Im just wondering why the hell those studs are threaded. haha. I just want to make sure, the black tube like thing

is the replacement overflow bottle. Right?

when you say top support for the bumper you mean they hold the bumper up? Thanks, I realize some of these questions seem very straitforward I am just a little nervous and want to make sure I do this right. Not to mention turboxs doesnt respond to emails or phone calls. pita lol. Again Thanks.
