The PE 1820 and 1818 are both modified versions of IHI turbo's (aka the VF series). I've read threads on this forum comparing the 1820 spool with the 20g, saying the two were similar.

I don't believe either is too large for the 2.0, I considered both of them prior to buying a vf34. I choose the vf34 because I felt it was the best fit for reliability and daily driving. I've put over 40,000 miles on the car with the vf34 and it still puts a smile on my face.

ok thanks my biggest concern is that it will be too much for the stock internals and stock transmission.

I broke my 5-speed with just a vf34. Be nice to it and it should last. I busted my transmission on the 1-2 shift while racing a friend, and I think the 44% increased clamping force of the Exedy Organic Stage One clutch I was using at the time, may have also helped assist in the process of damage.

IMHO - Be more worried about the transmission than the engines internals.
