I had dual webers on my first Porsche 914. Dellortos (very similar) on my second 914..

from the day I owned them.... I wished they had the OEM systems - LOL

I think its just better to start from scratch (all original)... before I get into "modding" a car that quite frankly, has about as much horsepower as some of my 3 y/o son's toys LOL

Did you send yours in to have it fixed/inspected or did you find one for the right year?

^^^ I did. I sent them their carb back..... and I sent my old one to them in the same box, just to use as a reference, or as the actual part to rebuild. I honestly don't know if this is my old carb.... I can say that it is EXACTLY like the old one though... thank god.

    Oh...and It lives

Just finished installing it.... Never touched a single screw... and she's purring like a kitten... The people that rebuilt it really know what they are doing.

Idling a bit high (maybe 1100-1150)... but not crazy. I also know the timing is way advanced too... and I'm going to keep it that way till I get through emissions. Then I'll tweak it a bit. In the meantime..... Its driveable.

Took it around the block..... Literally DOUBLE the horsepower.... I had no idea the car could move like that. It's far from a "bullet", but i can actually get out into traffic now and not have to worry about getting smashed from all the hesitation and rediculously slow acceleration. It actually feels like a properly running car - LOL

Wonder what the sniffer will say......

Getting a 4th set of temp tags again tomorrow - LOL Inspection later this week

    The Good news:

    High speed test (2602rpm):
    Standard: 500 HC (ppm), 3.00 C0%
    Reading: 7 HC (ppm), 0.00 C0%, 13.4% C02

    Idle test (1066rpm):
    Standard: 500 HC (ppm), 3.00 C0%
    Reading: 14 HC (ppm), 0.00 C0%, 12.1% C02

Basically.... I got the damn thing burning cleaner than a brand new Honda Civic - LOL The guys at the shop couldn't believe it. Neither can I. And I didn't even "cheat" the system with chemicals.... it's legit.

    The bad news:

Sometime in the past 3 months (while the car has been sitting not being driven), I had a driver side lower ball joint go bad.... so now I'm back to safety issues again - LOL No biggy... ordered the part, it's supposed to be in Wednesday.

Unfortunately, the suspension is always working, even when the vehicle is parked I cannot believe the progress you have made with this thing, Matt! Fantastic!

    Thanks!!!

Not too bad of a job. A little bit of a PITA considering its been in there 33 years. However, after just recently doing the grimmspeed master cylinder brace in the WRX... this job was almost a "pleasure".

A little PB Blaster.... an impact gun, and a ball joint separater....

Much easier to get in than it was to get out

Thats it.... emissions passed with flying colors and that was the only safety issue that they found. Gonna run it over to the inspection guys again tomorrow (I'm sure they are sick of looking at this thing), get a "pass" certificate..... and then it's off to DMV to actually get it "legal" - LOL
