Eh..... **** happens, you know? The car was never intended to be some "show car".... it was a commuter for the wife, that's all. I had hoped for more than 1.5 years out of it... but whatever.

With the move to Texas coming up... just figured we'd get whatever we could for it.

In the exceptional condition that it's in... it's worth $4000+, and it would cost me less than $1000 (including shipping) to put a tranny in it. But.... it takes time to sell a specialty car.... which I am limited on. Plus, quite frankly, I don't want to put a transmission in it.

I told myself that if it didn't sell on eBay for at least $1000, I'd go ahead and do the tranny... but it's actually doing pretty well. I think it might have to do with the videos I made.

Anyway, here it is on eBay:

Understandable...I definitely know it could be more of a pain than not. It is an awesome car and I read through your thread and ebay posting. You're just up front and honest, and paint every little detail about it. You pointed out your site which you run which also probably has every detail imaginable. Just makes you a good salesman.

    Goodluck with it!

So... The Brat has been sitting since November. I tried absolutely everything I could to get it through emissions.... to no avail.

So I finally decided to tear into the carburetor to see if I could "tweak" it enough to get it to pass..... only to discover that half the carburetor was MISSING.

Yea... like literally MISSING.... my secondaries were flopping in the breeze.... the linkage was completely GONE.... no flow... no control... no NOTHING.

A rebuild kit would be a lot cheaper... but rebuild kits don't come with missing linkages.

So.... until I could afford a new carburetor (after X-mas)... It had to sit.

The good news, is that now that X-mas is over... I just purchased a pre-adjusted, flow-tested, and guaranteed carburator from these folks for $260: New and Rebuilt Carburetors for $149 or Less Everyday!

In the meantime..... just to be on the safe side.... I also ordered a universal catalytic converter off eBay... which arrived a couple days ago. Truthfully, I really don't want to deal with this tree-hugging BS anymore... so I'm doing everything I can to ensure once I'm done.... I'm DONE.

So here she is.... 1.75 OD..... which was as close as I could find in a straight (universal) cat to my factory 1.5 OD exhaust.

Looked like as good of a place as any to remove a piece:

So then the fun part started...... my first attempt at welding - LOL

My wife bought me a welder for my B-day..... and I have defiinitely learned much respect for welders..... it is truly an art.

This has got to be the G** Damn ugliest welding job I've ever seen.

In fact, if I were to see this welding job on anyone else's car... I would likely laugh at them - LOL

But whatever.... I did it.... I melted metal to other metal.... beeotches - LOL

My ghetto-fabulous welding job. Whatever... it works - LOL

More coming when the new carburetor arrives..... It doesn't require any metal fabrication... so it should be much prettier - LOL

    Well.................

The Lord giveth... and the Lord taketh away.

    Close but no cigar

I should have known fixing this 30 year old Japanese turd of a so-called car couldn't possibly as simple as ordering a part, right??

Uggg... it'll probably take another month to get another one.... or to have mine rebuilt.

Wow dude. That carb is so much larger than the stock one. Any idea what the rebuilt one is actually for?

I have no idea... I'm thinking one of the later year 1.8L Brats maybe. Maybe one with an automatic tranny and/or A/C?? I dunno.

God knows information out there on Subaru Brats is vague at best.... so I'm not really "mad".. just disappointed.

A rebuild kit won't come with all the missing parts..... like linkages

I just figure that since I may not know everything it needs, better to start with a completely "new" part, so I can eliminate it if the troubleshooting process may not be entirely over.
