    ^^^ Thanks!!

Got the bed trim back in..... it's still a bit beaten up (especially the tailgate piece).... but I cleaned all the corrosion off of it, polished it up as best I could, installed new hardware, etc..... looks ok I guess..... one more piece in the puzzle. I suppose these pieces will be something I'll just have to "find" somewhere when I happen to come across them..... although finding ANYTHING for this damn car is practically impossible.

I like the idea of throwing some new shoes on it. Something a little meatier could really make it look a bit more aggressive and fun...but obviously not something ridiculous though

We'll see. I'd like to as well... but the Peach Days car show kinda got me in gear.. so my primary focus is making ir "roadworthy" by Sept 11th. Plus, the WRX has endured 2 winters outside while this POS had the garage space..... I plan on driving this thing this winter and storing the WRX in the garage where it belongs..

Next Summer.... We're planning on moving cross-country... and I have no idea how I'd get 3 cars (much less 4) across the country... so the brat may be going up for sale then anyway, you know?

We'll see.... we'll see how much I like driving it.... still can't believe I've never really driven it - LOL

"Trying" to go back home to the St. Louis area (Scott AFB).

If that's not possible, our 2nd and 3rd choices are Dayton Ohio (Wright Patterson AFB), or Little Rock, AR (Little Rock AFB).... just because they are both only about 6 hours from home.

Driving distance..... no more 6 or 7 $400-$500 (each) plane tickets for my daughter every year.

I dunno... I know these f-ing POS's rust easier than hot brake rotors on a rainy day.

I know that they have ZERO collectibility... because NO ONE makes anything aftermarket for them.... at all...

I know they are slower than snail ****.... and there isn't much you can do about it.

I know that if you are more than 5 ft 5, you won't fit in it without replacing the seats (which by the way, no one makes brackets for)

I know they had numerous electrical problems and recalls.... that (of course) Subaru doesn't provide the repair parts for anymore.

I know they are still pretty cool cars..... and I've been watching several Brats sell on eBay over the past 2 years..... not one of them has been nicer (or rust free) than mine....... so I'm feeling pretty good about all the work I've done.

... I'll be driving it Sept 1st.... I get paid that day.... heading to the DMV to get temp tags. It may not pass emissions without more work... but at least I'm good for 15 days, including the Peach Days show.

So the infamous junkyard brush guard goes in for sandblasting and powdercoating tomorrow.... bright chrome.

These little (or not so little) tabs on the side are designed to bolt to the bottom side of the front bumper. Ummmmm.... I'm not using the front bumper.... so they really just served as an eyesore with no real purpose. Plus, I didn't want the inspection guys to say "Hey... wait a sec.... these are supposed to bolt to your front bumper... which is missing. The problem.... is that I'm dealing with straight tabs, welded to a circular pipe, at an angle.... ugggg

So..... it began with the sawzall...... and then polished up as best I could with the help of this handy little $25 tool at Lowe's:

And the final product?? Looks ok I suppose. I cut a little deep on one side.... but then polished it out with the grinder as best I could. It won't be "invisible"... you'll be able to see where the welds were.... but I really don't think it will be that noticeable. Works for me.

    Pass side

    driver side

More pics once I get it back from the powdercoater.

    Cool little video....

I especially liked the overly-dramatic "shift" into 4wd - LOL

.... and the "newb" sticker on the red one - LOL

.... and the screams as he was falling down the cliff..... I chuckled

.... and the fact I don't think either car went over 50 mph - LOL

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w5hzEgbCC90

..... it made me think of this little sticker on the dashboard of the Brat - LOL:
