This is a discussion on 914er's project "SPOILED BRAT" progress thread within the Engine Modifications forums, part of the Tech & Modifying & General Repairs category; I went back to the first few posts in this thread to look at the bumper. And you're right it's ...

    Yea... totally.

I bought this thing with MUCH different intentions than I have now. The focus now is really just to get it on the road, look halfway decent, turn a few heads, and drive the $hit out of it through the winter so I can FINALLY keep the WRX in the garage.

Truthfully, I'm moving cross country in about a year, and I'll probably just sell it before I go to save me the hassle of moving it..... We'll see. I haven't "really" even driven it yet after 2 years.. maybe I'll really like it?? LOL

So all the electrical bugs are worked out... the horn... the backup lights... the dash lights, markers... even the dome light

Got to working on the overheating problem... changed out the thermostat.... removed an inline heater that I thought might be clogged... flushed and filled... still overheating.

Until I discovered after a bit of research and looking at pics of old brats..... that the secondary electrical fan.... doesn't EXIST.. no wonder I couldn't troubleshoot it.... it tough to troubleshoot something that you didn't know was supposed to even exist. Aftermarket dual fan and relay switch on order

In the meantime.... picked up a "beefy" set of 185/80/13s to replace the 155/70/13s... pulled the old tires off.... and sanded them down smooth as butter last night. Going silver with them this weekend to match the stripes

Is that 4 bolt pattern as wide and as odd looking in real life? What is that 4 x 8?

It is the stock 13x5 wheel, with the 4x140 lug pattern.

..... only made on old Subarus, and a few old Peugeots.... that's it.

    No aftermarket support whatsoever.... None.

Which is why a popular conversion is the 6-lug chevy pattern (6x139.4), or (6x5.5). You re-use 2 lugs, remove 2.... and then drill 4 more. That chevy 6-lug pattern allows you to use an infinite number of aftermarket wheels.

I actually already have all the parts to do the conversion.... except the wheels themselves. The project is still planned, but $100 for a set of 13" tires was a lot cheaper than a $700 set of wheels and tires after the conversion, you know?

Does anyone even sell 13" wheels anymore? What are they go kart tires? At least racing slicks would be cheaper.

^^^ When is the last time you priced racing slicks?? LOL My racing slicks for the WRX were over $1000 - LOL

    Anyway.......

    Wheels/tires on...... ready to go

This thing looks like it's ready for a rally Who would have thought that 2 extra inches of tire would make this much of a difference?

The overheating problem that has existed since I bought it???? Solved.

Busy day today..... Installed a new water temp sensor, a new dual-electric fan kit, aftermarket fan relay, and a circuit breaker to keep the whole thing safe.

Ops check.... perfect.... comes on at 190 degrees.... turns off at 175

Didn't have room to run both fans on the back side of the radiator, so I ran a "stock location" fan on the passenger side, and then an additional fan on the front of the driver side. I backwards-wired the front fan to serve as a "pusher" while the one behind the radiator maintains the stock "puller".

    The "pusher"

    The "puller"

    New water temp sensor

My Frankenstein wiring job. Believe it or not, it's "over-safe"
