well since that was how SPT made 'em i guess they know what they are doing since they design them test them etc before going into production.

and for half price as they r on sale imho is a great deal.

only other system considering 3" is the Borla one Sedan:

I am pretty sure the 2.5" is intended to support only the exhaust system modification... Seeing as Subaru would warranty an SPT system installed with properly certifiied Subaru dudes.

I wouldn't purchase a 2.5" system if you ever have the intention of going catless and running EM.

i have an 08 wagon....i purchased the system today, and went and picked it up....everything still in box etc.....should i not install it???i measured the stock pipe and it seems to be 2 inches.....what do u guys think>?

i heard that 3 inches only produces noticeable gains around 350-375 hp....???

Do it, it'll be fine. It's just a catback system, so it'll just make the car sound better. Without the downpipe and midpipe it won't make a difference for performance. I've had the SPT catback on my 05 wagon for almost 2 years, and it's great.

    nicholas, sent you a pm.

Also the hatch(wagon:rollseyes: the mid pipe is 2.5" the muffler section is 3" i know the guy who designed tested and had them made so i know thats "A" ok to use.
(i used on my modded 04STI and 06STI) invidia catless DP and then a ecutek or enginuity reflash but rest oif exhaust system was factory 2.5" from the DP back to the muffler.

what you need performance wise is a catless Down Pipe.

I came across a bulletin yesterday at the Suby dealership i work at, that recommends that 08 SPT catbacks should use a new doughnut seal that must be purchased seperately. Ill read it again when i get back to work on monday and update with a specific part #.

They only provide flat gaskets for the intermediate pipe to muffler flanges. SOA recommends buying a $20 doughnut gasket for the downpipe to intermediate pipe flange. Although some have not needed it. Better to have and not need, than to need and not have. I assume you can return the doughnut if it is still sealed in it's packaging, if you end up not using it.
