I have read that it just clips in the same but is there anything different like a different y pipe or anything needed to install?

    No.

You need the Sti IC Ypipe, a longer turbo elbow, and if you have 02-05 you need a longer TB to IC coupler.

Yo Bud, I went ahead and purchased an STI TMIC and it came with the STI Y Pipe. Yet, a friend of mine wanted the Y-Pipe so I went ahead and bought the Perrin Hose Kit. Yet the Perrin Hose Kit is setup for the WRX. So I had to use the WRX Pieces off the WRX Intercooler + the Hose Kit. The STI Y-Pipe didn't fit right anyways, it needed like an extra inch or two to really be secured properly.

So buy the STI TMIC, Keep your WRX Y Pipe Setup, Purchase the Perrin hose Kit. Use the pieces from your WRX Hose Kit and the Perrin hose kit. And everything will fit properly.

    Ignore this advice for 06+!

On the 06+ WRX the Stock TMIC PIPING will not swap over to STI.

Get the STI IC with Y pipe, buy the longer 90 deg elbow above from stylin motors, trim to fit.

Yes disregard some of the miss information in this thread and refer to the illustration above.

    Get:

    Stock Sti TMIC
Y pipe from Sti (sometimes people sell it with IC sometimes they dont. If you buy one without the y pipe, ebay has Chinese knock off kits that look the same)

Depending on the year of your car, you will need a longer elbow going to the turbo, and possibly a longer TB to IC coupler.

The pic spells it out pretty plainly.
