This is the 3rd generation of my in-car computer. I'm still using the same 7" x 7" Epia mainboard and 15G hard drive, but I did the following things:
1)Found and adapted a small plastic case for it that allows me to fit it completely under the passenger seat.
2)Nuked the hard drive and reinstalled everything with Windows XP as my OS.
3)Installed an additional 128M RAM for a total of 256.
4)Installed a USB wireless Ethernet adapter.
5)Purchased a very small flexible keyboard, and mounted it on my sun visor.
Now I can manage and transfer files from within my house. I shared the carputer's hard drive, and when I park, it becomes part of my house network.
The keyboard rocks, because now I can keep the road in my line of sight while navigating the menus in MediaEngine. (Freeware carpc software from www.mp3car.com)
Now I need a bigger hard drive. (I'm limited to 15G in the car, right now) Here's a few pics.
