    Speaker Install issue

Ok i need some help. I am getting rid of my speakers, and plan on getting Infinity reference 6.5inch components, and reference 2way 4" speakers in back.

What's the real story, I need spacers for sure in the front, but are they necessary for the rear's?. Also how thick does the front spacer need to be to accomodate nice meaty magnets/

And where is the split or factory crossover for the tweeter (Front)?

What will i use to mount the new Infinity tweeter on the stock bracket?

I know im being anal. Ive installed 6x9's and 6.5" in my pickup truck without trouble...

Is it worth taking it to a circuit city and having them install the fronts, and just doing the rears by myself?

I installed polk/momo 6.5" in the front and I needed a .75" spacer and I had to take the back of the basket off to get them to fit. They are some meaty speakers for sure. You'll probably need the same. As for the rears, you may or may not need a spacer. I used JL TR series 4 inchers and had no clearance issues.

Yea it seems my real problem lies in the factory crossover, and how i dont feel like digging around for it. If its a major PITA, i will have Circuit City do the install for 70-90 dollars, and have them do all the digging, and hiding of the new x-over.

I plan on buying the Reference 6.5 component (Square mount pattern). I could let them screw with it, or order a set of spacers from that subaru/audi specialist; and know the fitment will be perfect. Circuit city charges 199 for the speakers, but i can get them for 108 plus 20 dollar spacers, and still have enough saved money for the install....

Are the people who upgraded their speakers happy... will I be happy with upgraded speakers even though im keeping the subaru cd player? i cant give it up

If you're any bit of an audiophile, you're going to give it up.... what's gonna happen is that with the better speakers you're gonna start hearing a lot more 'noise' from the HU that you didn't notice before. Some people will notice it more than others.... I did my speakers first like you and I was ordering a new HU within 2 days... You may be happy with it though. Listen to it and decide. I sure do miss that 6cd changer... It's doing good time in my sisters Forester though...

yea ill have to listen before i know. i selected the most efficient speakers i could find 92dB front, and 91dB rear.
What i am really looking for is marginally better sound from non paper speakers, that can still play off the stock HU. I dont plan on putting a subwoofer in the car, i just like decent sound. If i had the money for an amp and new HU, id do it. But i ordered accessport from Cobb, so thats not an option now.

I think having at least some form of tweeter in the back is going to help with imaging. The stock speakers are just gross especially the rears.

My setup will cost me 230 dollars installed, 150 if someone would help me find the crossover.

I guess i could tolerate some hiss in stead of swapping CD's every time i want to hear somethin different.
