Wow - very interesting solution. PITA labor wise, but a great alternative for people who care about audio quality.
FM transmitter is decent, Tape deck on the stock deck is known for having lousy audio (something about odd/low frequency response if memory serves), but direct CD audio should be golden.

I too had have an 06 but I had an 04 with a tape deck and in my opinion tape deck to ipod thingy is soooo much better than transmitter. That is the one thing I hate about the 06 no tape deck. If you line the volume up on the ipod, you can get almost cd quality through the tape. but IMO much better than a transmitter can ever be.

followed your discussion on the jazzy engineering aux -in port
bought the thing and installed it, works great - I ran the cable out the hole for the ashtray holder after removing the tray. My video Ipod seems to sit fine down in that space, but I was wondering where else anyone would considering putting an ipod or if there are any good mounting options already out there?
I bought the JE connection as well and Im waiting to get it in the mail, my plans are to buy a cheap ipod/cell phone mount at best buy or walmart and mount it near that blank space next to the cupholder that way its within sight and reach without too much distraction
that sounds like a good plan, you'll have to post some pictures when you get it set up
has anyone ordered and recieved from JE, I was just wondering what kind of shipping time im looking at, ordered about a week ago so Im still waiting for it to get here, I was hoping it would be here by today so I could hook it up this weekend
LOL got the SAME set up as you... I installed my jazzy board months ago and it sounded great but was a bit quiet, so i got the same belkin charger/inline amp you have there... made a HUGE difference in volume/sound running it from the data port from the Ipod... I ran my wires all through the center console with the belkin tunedock (cupholder dock) and it looks and sounds very clean... my advice if you want to keep your stock stereo:
get a Jazzy board, its easy to install.. really...
get the belkin auto kit
and the tunedock works well too...
