    Installing subwoofer in '06 WRX

I'd like to add the Subaru subwoofer to the standard audio in my '06 WRX.

From what I can gather, the Subaru subwoofer package contains the subwoofer, integrated amplifer and wiring harness that couples to the back of the stock radio.

Has anyone done this installation, and if so I'm I right so far?

The other part of the question is how to gain access to the back of the stock head unit. I've pulled the glove box and access back there is REALLY tight. I can see a white nylon connector block on the back of the radio (lower passenger side), but there's only about 1" of clearance between it and whatever is behind it, and, of course, ne way to get your hand in there. It may be possible to get it out with enough effort, screwdrivers, pliers etc, but am I missing something? Is there an easier way? Acess doesn't look any better (in fact it looks worse) from the drivers side. Do I need to take apart the guts of the ventiilation system too?

If anyone's done this, their advice will save me much cursing and swearing when it comes time to do it myself. Thanks in advance.

You can get access to the radio and what not by way of removing the shifter boot and what not in the middle. Then the plastic paneling all pops out and everything is pretty easy to get at. There is a tuitorial somewhere I'll see if I can find it.

Thanks - I was hoping that there was an easier way than going in under the dash!

One of my friends had the subaru sub, and honestly I really couldn't tell a difference. If you want real bass that's going to hit, I suggest you look at getting one for the trunk.

+123. I had it and it was irrelevant. A good, compact powered sub costs about the same. Try the infinity basslink.
