i guess i should mention this will be for a footwell illumination kit. so on the inside of the car would be ideal. mainframe, where is the relay? is there a fuse for the headlights inside the car?

I wouldn't want my footwell lights to be on with the headlights, that will reduce your night vision while driving. Most people will want their footwell lights to go on and off with the dome light, and that's easy to tap in to.

The headlight relay should be in the fuse box in the engine bay. There should be a headlight fuse in the fuse box in the cabin. You could go that route if you want.. because the footwell LEDs won't pull too much current.
