    Hardwiring a Radar Detector

    So I am wanting to hardwire my Whistler radar detector and planning on getting the kit:

    Whistler Hardwire Kit (206880)

    My question is do I need to get one of those add a fuse things as well with this kit?

    What MY do you have? I have a 3G & it uses ATM fuses ,not ATC. If the fuse tap kit doesn't come with a fuse,then naturally you would have to get the appropriate fuse too.

    I haven't hardwired mine yet,but I believe there is a kit available that you can use to take power from your maplight.

    I have my V1 hardwired. It gets power from the DC outlet. The cable is run under the dash, up the A-Pillar, and along the headliner.

    Haven't got my WRX just yet... waiting for it to get to the dealership still but it will be a 2013 and hopefully hear next week! That is why I am doing the research now and not buying anything until I get it though cuz I wanna make sure the fuses and all that.

    If you get the homelink or autodim mirror you can tap off the back of that. Thats what I did with my V1
