    New HU, Clarion or Pioneer?

I'm looking to pick up a new head unit for obvious reasons. I'd like a nice large touch screen and GPS navigation. The two models I'm looking at are:

    Clarion NX702
    Pioneer AVIC-Z150BH

Those, and their similar slightly older models. Does anyone have experience with either of these? Which would you recommend?

I'm open to other suggestions too, and I'm not against putting a version of Android on which ever HU I get if that's the better way to go.

    Thanks for any help!

I'm personally a fan of anything Pioneer these days. They're head units just seem to have a really nice user interface that also runs smooth. I've also never had a problem with their navigation systems either (2 separate Pioneer Nav head units in the past 5 years).

I know Clarion used to be good in the game years past, but I haven't seen them referred to much lately. But the one you posted seems to have decent reviews.

I'd also look at Kenwood (uses a Garmin nav interface I believe) and Alpine if you'd like to broaden your search amongst good known brands.

I second looking into Kenwood. I've installed a few for friends and that's what i've been using in my cars since 2007.

I can also vouch for pioneer, have ran a few head units that were great. Alpine is ehhhh, but kenwood and sony would be the other 2 i would look at.

Yeah both guys I work with installed the Pioneer AppRadio 2 (SPH-DA100) and the quality is top notch, lots of cool functionality with these. But Pioneer in general has some great systems.

DON'T get the Clarion!!!!!!!!!! I got the Clarion 602 and its ok but it will not stream audio from my droid razr max or my buddy's galaxy S3, and the navigation sucks!!!!!!! The touch screen is slow as balls also!! I liked my old JVC navi alot better. The guy I ride to work with just got a new Pioneer and it is worlds better the my POS Clarion.

With the new HU, were you able to maintain full functionality of your radio controls and bluetooth buttons on the steering wheel?

Yeah I am curious about that too - I was told by my guy that they wouldn't work anymore hence I didn't bother upgrading

There are harnesses that allow you to keep the controls. Google is your friend
