Jazzy Engineering vs New Headunit? 2005 WRX.

Well, the girlfriend and I are getting fed up with using an FM transmitter for music.
...Well mostly her and people with women in their lives know how much power they have over us.

Now. Should I go with Jazzy Engineering and do the AUX w/blank CD hack.
    Jazzy Engineering

    OR

Just get a new head unit and be done with it?

Does a new headunit really provide THAT much better sound quality?
One reason why i never went aftermarket is because I enjoy the look of a stock center console. So unless it's that big of a difference. I'm going with Jazzy.

Aftermarket units typically have a small amp built in, and therefore provide some more power to the speakers. So yes, there will be an improvement over the stock head unit. I'd go aftermarket for sure, especially if you're willing to spend a bit more to make it a clean install.

EDIT: Checkout Sonic Electronix, for audio stuff their prices are usually hard to beat.

Even a $50 sony deck will sound better than the factory radio. Any pioneer/alpine/kenwood single din between $100 and $150 will do everything you need.

Its not a matter of cost really. Its that I enjoy having a stock looking center console. What i hate about aftermarket headunits is that they..... I dunno how to explain it... but cheapen the look of my already cheap car.

Are you looking at single or double din HUs?

If money isn't the issue then I'd get a nice touch screen double din.

I'd get a decent double-din unit with touch screen controls for Ipod and so on. A screen in the console will look good (I had a double-din nav unit in my first STI and got a lot of compliments on it).

A clean touch screen double din unit will look good in any car.
