What is the reason for this? I think the e-brake thing is a great safety feature honestly.

I don't. I'm smart enough not to watch Futurama while cruising the freeway, but I'd like to give that option to the passengers. I pull over for phone calls I can't miss, need to enter GPS etc when I'm the only one in the car, and that's fine, but if my wife is in the passenger seat, why shouldn't she be able to enter in an address, watch a movie, or whatever?

There are a ton of these how-to videos on youtube. Just search. He's a random one, but there were at least 15 more: Pioneer E-brake Bypass - YouTube
