I had an iPhone 4 and never had any issues with my Bluetooth
I got the new 4S and I have to manually force it to connect now. Any ideas?

A while back some people were stating issues with getting new iPhones and bluetooth connection.... their fix was to make sure your old and new iPhones are completely removed from the car head unit memory, then re-add the new phone.
something about adding a second phone will not allow the second to auto-connect right.

You have to fully remove the other phone and re-pair the new phone with the system. I like my 4s with my car better than my 4.. I dont have to use the cord at all anymore.

Do you still get the problem with the music automatically playing when the BT syncs with the 4S?

Interesting.I'm stuck between buying the iPhone 4s or the Samsung Galaxy. If the 4s has problems this will make my choice easy.

I jumped from the EVO to the 4 and then back to sprint with the 4S
I'll see if I had not removed any of the other devices and maybe that would have helped

my car automatically starts playing music thru BT but you can just change it to fm/cd or whatever.. But I just happen to want it to play from my phone..

My iPhone 4 did automatically start. I loved that.

In the bluetooth connection options for the pairing with your HU, you should be able to choose to be a headset or media player or both. If you choose only headset, when your phone detects the car it shouldn't start your iTunes and start playing music. At least this is how it works with my Samsung Charge and its media player.
