Help with new head unit

So today I had a buddy of mine install a new head unit. It works fine and functions properly. However, every time I turn the car off the unit is reset. So basically it reverts back to the out of the box setup. Does anyone know what could cause this issue? Also the head unit is a Pioneer 50wx4 MOSFET. Not sure if that matters but any help would be appreciated.

Somewhere you hooked the power supply to the switched 12V supply. That line isn't mean to support a lot of current draw, so you need to pull the unit back out and check all connections again.

I assume you used a wiring harness that came with instructions? If so, it should only take a while to go through and check all the colors match.
