Can it handle it? Yes...in theory. Is it good for the HU? No. Would I do it for daily use? No.

A few years back, Infinity made a series of speakers (Kappa or Reference, I can't recall) that had a nominal impedence of 2 ohms. They were popular, but I wonder how many HUs were ruined in the long term by running at 2 ohms...particularly if there was a 2 ohm load on 1 set of outputs (front, for example) and a 4 ohm load on another set (rear).

^ this.. its not a terrible unit per/say.. but puts out just about nothing for wattage. If you're having troubles driving the factory speakers, aftermarket of any resistance value will suffer. Replace the head unit with a good one that has a internal eq and xover.. and you might even find that the factory mids work just fine. All I did was change the hu, add tweets and a small sub, played with xover points a little and bam.. Sucker rocks out now

The '11s already have tweets, which is a pretty good upgrade over the non-premium '08-10 models.

The '11 HU has a really lousy native EQ curve, so replacing the HU on my '11 made a huge (positive) difference.

Subaru factory hu's have SQUAT for output... could have a great eq.. if there's no power its not gettin anywhere. The best place for the factory hu is ridin the shelf its on in my garage. /thread.

I agree with what most said above...HU is crap. I tried running Infinity's all the way around with the stock HU and noticed little improvement. Upgraded the HU and it was a world of difference. Like phenryiv1 said, you could probably run the factory speakers with an upgraded HU and be content with it.
