    2010 wrx audio questions.

hopefully this has'nt been posted yet, can't find the answers i'm looking for

I have a 2010 wrx without navi but sat radio installed at the dealer

Does the oem deck use the same output for the sat as the iphone interface?
Does the subaru ipod interface work with an aftermarket deck or will the aftermaket have them internally?
Would an aftermarket deck be better due to what i want: Better sound, possibly navigation, and ipod through stereo and charging(hate the aux jack!).
    Which deck is everyone using?

    thanks in advance!

if you go aftermarket, you will have to buy a new adapter for the steering wheel radio controls, a new satellite unit, and your aux input that is stock will not work, you will have to buy an ipod connection kit for your aftermarket receiver. it sux . all the stock stuff wont work with anything aftermarket.

im in the same boat, limited wrx with sat standard, and i dont have 2 grand to drop on a nice nav unit and all of the other crap i would need to make it work.

The main thing i'm curious about is the oem deck and whether or not it uses the same output jack as the sat radio because i'd like to have both. Ideally i would go new but to get what i want is a crap load of money so i think i will just try to make it work with the oem deck.

The OEM sat radio tuner and OEM iPod adapter both want to plug into the same 20-pin expansion bus socket on the rear of the HU. The two adapters can't be used simultaneously.

(normally, the bus can allow multiple devices, but those two don't play well together)

For the price you'd pay on the OEM iPod adapter, you could be well on your way to a good aftermarket HU with better sound, built-in iPod capability, built-in nav, and more. Some include the iPod cable. With others, it's a separate accessory, but inexpensive (just a cable).

The interface module to retain your steering wheel controls is not very expensive. The Axxess ASWC works well -- many Subaru owners have installed them and given rave reviews.

You can retain your factory aux jack with an adapter like this:

You can also sell your OEM sat tuner to make back some $.

Hey, thanks a lot that's what i was looking for. Do you know which are popular aftermarket HU's that fit, look and sound well that won't break the bank?
