okay I'm hijacking my own thread. So I'm deciding I need a new head unit now as I'm taking my car apart. Hahaha. Any opinions? What I should get 1 din or 2 din. I'm looking to spend about $100 - $200. Probably more on the 200 side. I don't want anything that is too flashy just something classy looking. Any inquires would help.

Its a touch out of your price range (might be able to find it cheaper elsewhere.. but crutchfield is good for info searching) .. but its feature rich and will fill the opening in the dash alot nicer than a single din with a cubby.

    http://www.crutchfield.com/S-yJiuPKM...9.html?tp=5684

or if you want nav.. this one is CHEAP for a nav receiver but doesn't have built in bluetooth (it is addable though)

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020NX40...?tp=5684&avf=N

you know if you go with a aftermarket head unit you wont have to splice wires for the sub.. just use the pre-amp outputs.

hey that one looks good. I was just at a store in my area and they recommended this one

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CZ50...0.html?tp=5684

Thats in my price range. Is clarion a good company? And I kinda like the single din because it gives me room to put random stuff. But I'm not sure on that.

clarion is decent. Personally I've not used too many but have friends that swear by them.

I've always had the best of luck with Pioneer head units for my personal use, but most of your mid and top end audio brands are going to be decent. Features and price are really what it boils down to.

I have a clarion CX-609. It looks like a no nav screen OEM double din lump (which is in fact a clarion lump too). So its like a better more modern function happy OEM.

Ipod interface is decent. Display is very minimalist if only adequate. Layout is fairly easy and intuitive. Color change/ match is a nice effect.

Sat radio ready, bluetooth ect. Its too ugly to steal yet does everything except screen based functions. (nav, touch interface, ect.) Which the Garmin does way better, cheaper anyway.

okay I think I have it narrowed down to two head units

    http://signature.crutchfield.com/s_5...ssi=0&tp=27783

The part I really like about this apline unit is the big lcd screen for scrolling through my ipod library. The negatives are the expensive bluetooth addition for around $100 where the other deck has this already built in. There is no CD player and it doesn't come with a remote.

    and this one

    http://www.crutchfield.com/p_020CZ50...ch=cz500&ssi=0

the clarion has a cd player and built in bluetooth and comes with a remote.

It seems to me that I get more for my money with clarion. Doe anyone have any opinions on these two units?

Well since you really arent trying to compete in any competitions and you bought a poop woofer...so I don't think you'd notice a difference between those two. Go with the one that gives you more options.

Hey so I decided to go with this kenwood excelon KDC-X794

    http://www.crutchfield.com/s_113KDCX...4.html?tp=5684
It got great reviews and the interface looks good, with usb, and aux inputs + it passed the ipod DAC which is good. Unfortunately no bluetooth builtin.

I get it tomorrow will install it tomorrow after work.

I will be posting photos of the install soon after... if all goes to plan.

I'm not sure what you mean by that; maybe it's only with newer head units.

I think you might mean the remote wire that tells the amps to turn on. Is it thin and blue?

...Or the accessory power that tells the HU to turn on?
