All of the harnesses I've seen in retail stores (Car Toys, Fry's, and Best Buy) were between $19.95 and $29.99. I worked at RadioShack for six months and never saw a single wiring harness come through the store.
Example:

These same harnesses sell for less than $3 online. (okay.. the one I found now is almost $5, but you can get better deals on different days.)

That's my point.

Point taken ive never payed nearly that much for harnesses nor shopped them at the named chain stores.
I have bought a harness at my local radio shack outlet. It was 5 and change for a 99 camry.
5.99 for a 05 civic harness over the counter at a local (not cartoys) car audio shop.
Wal mart is generally not allot. But then again its not going to be scosche.
Amazon is usually steady at 6 bucks possibly plus shipping

thanks a lot guys. i got it from ebay. 0.99+ 4.99 shipped. wasnt bad. i think i will try to install it soon. we are so HOT in new york.
lol, it's pretty nice weather here right now. I've been riding my bicycle to school every day and the highs have only been in the mid 90s. Two weeks ago it was 100+ every day.
we got up almost 100 today. expecting 100+ tomorrow. we dont get that many days in new york during the year
do i have to take out the battery first before removing the head unit?
I've never worried about disconnecting the battery when working on stereo components.. although I have had to replace a fuse or two, but they're cheap.
I just bought a new Pioneer Avic headunit which I put in my 2002 WRX. I bought a wiring harness, soldered everything and plugged it in but the headunit has no power...
Using a multimeter I tested all the pins in stock wire harness and it seems that I do get 12V in the correct wire when the key is turned to ACC, but the wire that is supposed to be 12V Constant is dead... I assumed that I blew a fuse but replacing it did not fix the problem. Maybe I have a short somewhere? Not really sure how to go about fixing this since the problem is with the stock harness and not the one I purchased to install the headunit.
