I appreciate everyones input, ive been reading through alot of different forums and have visited a few stores but still havent found something that i feel like i must have...

I listen to all kinds of music, i like a good mix of sound and the ability to change the amount of bass and the like through my headunit

i eventually want to add a sub to my car, have to decided to most likely build my own box or get one from audio integrations perfect fit enclosure with a JL audio 10w(havent decided which model) i know its a small enclosure so i dont know if it will do much justice to get a w7 or the like.

i have around $500 to work with right now for the audio and would like some input on what my best options are

for a headunit i am leaning towards the double din, i would like it to be detachable but thats not a must, i want high outputs, i dont necessarily have a preference between a touchscreen or not, i want to have a good amount of control over my sound through the headunit though. I dont need it to play DVDs or to be a nav system, i would rather get a garmin or something of that sort, i do want it to be compatible with my ipod, so any input on specific headunits would be very helpful, ive noticed that pioneer has received alot of good feedback and their high preouts, but i am open for any options

i dont know if it would be worth it to put in the amp/sub before i change anything but i would like any kind of input, thanks again for all the input

my recoomentdation would be to take the 500.00 and put it into some quality speakers first and foremost. good set of components up front and coax in the rear. look into Hybrid Audio Technologies new imagine line. they are very nice. also Image Dynamics CTX compnents are great.

then look into a good five channel amp and sub... arc audio makes a great little five channel amp (XXD5080) very reasonably priced and good power. do some reasearch on subs as I will say JL makes some good stuff there is better available and priced at or less then JL.

From there then I would look at head units. I am a fan of the Kenwood Excelon units, but there are many options.
