    Subaru Under seat stock subs

Hey guys, question about the OEM subwoffers that can come factory with your subaru.....does anyone have any reviews on them?...im looking to buy subs soon, and would love to have subs under the front seats....so yeah, any information you guys could give me would be great, like prices, types, if you can get two, or just one under one seat, etc. Or if anyone has a link to some more information on them, that would be great

    Thanks,
    Red

Yeah, it depends on what you are looking for. The only reason I have my OEM sub still in place is because Im building the low profile box for an aftermarket sub. I personally hate the oem sub, its ok at best for everyday radio function. But I notice it doesnt pick up much of lower sub frequencies at all in the type of music I listen to. I listen to Hardcore Metal and it just doesnt do the double bass any justic.... good luck.

Forget about the OEM sub. Just like the rest of audio in my 05 wagon it plainly sucks. I got it factory installed thinking I wouldn't need to upgrade in the future but it just sucks. Period. But I don't listen to music at all unless requested by a passenger.

If you want something nicer look for aftermarket small footprint powered subwoofers. Try Clutchfield, and then find some other cheaper place to buy.

Hey, thanks guys, i kinda got the jist, that the OEM's are pretty ****TY....but, the reason i wanted them was bc my buddy had 2 12's in his trunk of his honda, and when i sit in that back seat, i love having those two huge subs shaking the seat im in, so i was thinking maybe an under the seat sub would give me the same experience?....i havnt seen many people with under the seat subs, unless its an OEM subbie....but, if you guys have any advice on this id appreciate it, otherwise, no big deal, ill prob just end up getting one Type R 12" in the trunk of my wagon

The OEM one is either a 4" or 5". No comparison to even a single 10". I think that upgrading the speakers to something better would produce deeper bass then the OEM woofer

One more question....you guys know any information on cutting the SMALL 4" speaker holes in a wrx bigger to accomidate a bigger speaker, like 5" X 7"??....might sound stupid, but i heard of a guy doing it once with tin snips....anyway, any information on that would be great, thanks

I have an OEM sub, and it's pretty sub-par. It adds a little extra bump, but it's less noticeable than many other stock systems WITHOUT subs. It sounds nothing like having two 12"s in the trunk. It will not rattle your seat. You can only put one under the passenger seat. I don't believe there's room under the driver seat.

If you can find an OEM sub used on ebay.,.. sure... go ahead... I wouldn't spend more than $30 - $35 on it though.

It's better with it than without it.... but not a lot. I bought one only because I didn't want the added weight of a "real" sub box and amps. It works... it's ok..... definitely nothing special though.

They make adapters to squeeze in 6.5s and 5.5s respectively.... they won't work with all speakers though.

I cut my doors, and went with 6.5s and 5.5s coaxial Rockford Fosgates..... the speaker surround rings almost match the A/C vent trim rings in the car perfectly, both in color and shape...... looks like it was meant to come with them. Quite happy.
