I think in Japan but that's not what I was thinking about.

I was thinking of sourcing a 2008 Wrx headunit with the navi.

    Any ideas?

I don't think its easy at all. There's a reason the nav system is a factory installed option on the '08, rather than dealer installed. New wiring has to be run, including to the antenna for the GPS. I'm not sure if the old WRXs even have a compatible antenna.

That would be pretty hard. an OEM Unit i'm sure is wired into the whole car. i just went with Profile - Kenwood Excelon DNX-8120 Multimedia DVD Receiver - Mobile Audio Receiver - Kenwood Excelon DNX-8120 DVD Receiver - 2008 CES Very good unit. easy install. Theres a coupon floating around the internet to get it from 6ave electronics online for 1049 with free shipping. and their an authorized kenwood dealer.

I was thinking of the avic-d3 but yea that kenwood will definately work. The idea was to stay OEM or some what OEM

thanks for the input. I'll research more on this kenwood and others like it.

ya i spent a while playing around with these in nearby stores. the graphic interface on all of them looked like it was from the early 90's. this was the only one that had nice looking menus and layouts for all of the sources. plus GPS and bluetooth rocks especially if your in CA.
