i am in a time crunch and need to make this clean, aka no hacking. where are the screws located to remove the stock 6 disc unit for the 02-03 models? thx in advance

No, i just did mine a couple days ago. You can take the cupholder out to make it a little easier. It's held by 2 phillips head screws. Pull the trim piece around the hu off. It might take a little force. Then there are 4-6 screws holding the hu in. It's pretty self explanitory.
