    Question replacing '06 factory tweeters

Just picked up my '06 WRX wagon and it is sweet!! The stereo is surprisingly OK, but I was wondering if it made sense to replace the factory tweeters with aftermarket tweeters to sharpen the highs?

Anyone try this?? If so, will I need a crossover?? I understand there is a capacitor in the factory setups that acts as a poor man's crossover.

I plan on keeping the factory headunit.

You can, but I don't think you'll really notice it. Especially with stock everything else. Even replacing the speakers w/ a component set will sound better, but the stock deck only goes so far. You can buy a decent stereo setup that won't break your wallet. When I first upgraded my deck and component speakers I only paid like 300. That might be more than you're willing to spend, but anything is better than stock and when you upgrade, you'll notice for sure. Try ebay for cheap prices once you know what you want.

yeah, its more like a bass blocker.

I personally wouldn't buy component tweeters without a matched x-over and driver set, otherwise it kinda muddles up the idea of improved sound quality.

i wouldn't look for ones so much as 'highly efficient' but more along the lines of 'low power.'

I agree with the other guy in as much as the head unit is going to limit you. I say buy a 4 channel amp or something if you wann akeep the head unit. That will make a bigger diff than speakers with at first.
