A dust free shine in 10 minutes, two steps.

This is my basic dusting procedure I use every morning before school...since we have the detailing forum now, why not take pics and share? I hate the dust that settles even just sitting in the garage over night.

Using the california duster: Remeber to shake it vigorously before and during use, in case you get a little heavier dirt in it.

start at the top of the car, work your way down and around. let it work under its own weight, dont push on it or use any force. Not only could that cause scratching, but it will streak the parafin wax all over the car, and make the next step much harder.

step 2: break out your QD....I use Zaino Z6. (I will have a full Zaino detail with pics from start to finish very soon).

remember to turn the towel frequently, and DONT USE A LOT. a little bit goes a long way. spread with one side of towel, wipe off with other side. fold the towel into quarters. again, start at top of car, work your way down and around.

and now you have your streak free, dust free shine:

bonus picture...took this the other day after i got caught in a freakin rain storm but it was alright bc the sun came right out and the pavement started steaming = pic time.

Another usefull writeup from Redline!! I have never heard of this California duster?? I usually just wipe the dust off with a towel and then detail spray. Can you give some more info on the California duster?

yeah, the duster is a cotton mop looking thing thats been treated with a special wax which attracts dust and dirt...so it lifts it off your car and goes into the duster...they say the dirtier it gets, the better it works, which ive found to be true, considering ive been using it for a few months, and the first few times i used it, it streaked the paint with parafin and pretty much sucked.

Its guaranteed not to scratch paint. but dont use it as a substitute for washes, just use it in between washes to keep things lookin good. You can get them in all different sizes for different prices, idk which one I got, it was like $12 or so though.

the thing with just using a towel and QD to remove dust is I feel like it just spreads it around more. This actually removes it, then hit it with the QD to make it shine/ get the little bit you might have missed / take care of any possible streaks the duster might have left.

I've been using a california duster for a long time. Whenever I get back home from a drive I dust my car off.

TR, dont lie to the people. You drive this car one sunday a year.

Tyler the write up is excellent. But I think you should specify that, really only use the california duster on a pretty clean car. For someone that hasnt washed the car in a few weeks/sits outside. This wouldnt prove to be so helpful. Like you stated, its only supposed to get the dust off. Also it helps get the pollen off.

Just made my weekly supply run to autozone and picked up one of the cali dusters. Seems like a quality piece of equipment, but the 48 hour air-out time.
