I used a Turtle Wax wash for a long time, and it was great. I have whatever the basic Meguiar's stuff is now and it also works well.

Forget a wash and wax, none of them are very good.

Meguiars Gold Class Shampoo & Conditioner - Best OTC Car Soap, no question about it.

For Wax OTC stuff, Meguiars has Ultimate Liquid Wax, but I have and use Blackfire Wet Diamond Sealant which lasts for a very long time. If you are going to top it wait 8 hours so it can cure

Beginning of the year, I would use Dawn dish soap, clay bar, power polish ( I have 22 years exp.), foam polish, then sealant followed by a good paste wax.
