first, what part are you looking for.

second, deeply discounted is a very broad term.

third, if possible, you may be able to find the part used, or negotiate with a dealership parts dept for a discount

What is it and why do you need it?

Ebay? Check out classifieds, here and especially over at NASIOC.

list on a 2009+ left rear lamp is $201.43, part #84912FG120.

here is what you can do:
    - call a dealer, ask for parts, and ask them what is the best price they can do. i have gotten my dealer parts dept to give me over 20% off list on certain things.
    - call local junkyards, see if they have any
    - call aftermarket companies that make replica oem parts, one good company is Keystone, but there are many others, and see what the price is.

    good luck searching.

Online parts prices are usually better unless it is something small where shipping will kill you. I usually search for the best price on the particular part. Deeply discounted and OEM are not congruent.

    A decent place to start:

Do you guys recommend getting OEM parts? or is just a waste of money because the non OEM parts are just as good?

I'm also looking for a rear tail light but the right side

the only issue you have to worry about with non-oem parts is fit, finish, and quality. the best would be to find an oem replica, which will match your other tail lamp that is not damaged. you can always try to talk the dealer parts dept into giving you a discount. ive gotten as much as 25% off list price.

I have good luck finding parts at local junkyards and recycling yards. Just look for a yard that specializes in Subaru dismantling. I go to the one in Rancho Cordova, CA (Specialized Parts Planet owns it) Welcome - Specialized Parts Planet

Too vague. It all depends on what you are looking to get and why. OEM parts are made for the car and should work fine. But if you are looking for upgrading anything...that's what the aftermarket caters to. Taillights...junkyard, used or items off Ebay, talk to the parts manager/department, check out NASIOC classifieds, etc...shop around and you'll find good deals. Just don't buy Altezzas

Thanks for all your suggestions folks. I still need a rear left tail light housing and would like to have a look at an aftermarket version, replica. Anybody know how I can get a look at one?

look on the forum to see if anyone is selling one. Try ebay, and if all fails search around the internet looking at sites that sell oem parts. You would be surprised at how much cheaper it is to buy parts online than at the dealership. Besides shipping, like mycologist stated.
