You bought a used engine from a salvage yard. Everything on the site advertises the engines being used, not rebuilt. Why exactly are you upset?

3500 for a used motor!??!? That's insane!
And yeah, why are you upset? It makes perfect sense to replace those things on a motor swap. It's all CYA.
That's why I asked him to post more specifics. $3500 for a used motor may not be to bad. That motor may have 20k on in and they supply a 100,000 unlimited mileage warranty on top. He may be confused that it came with the warranty but wasn't told that he needed to do all those extras to keep that warranty.

Maybe he expected it to look shiny and new like this one

In all honesty the motor he got looks pretty dang good for used!

I looked into Everdrive when I spun a rod bearing 2 years ago and all I had against them was their price was a little steep for me. I ended up finding a whole motor, turbo, IC and BPV from a salvage yard in Alabama for $1,600 with 10k on the motor. I guess he was looking for a shiny engine, and they do clearly state that they don't look like the picture on their website. (like anything looks like it does, compaired to the internets)
Looks like it just has coolant splashed all over it. They do say: "Engines will be steam cleaned or pressure washed" but it would be easy enough to do yourself.
