    WRX Vs. M5

I was out for a drive today when i pulled up behind an M5. We turned onto a large open rd (RT. 252 if anyone is from outside philly) and i turned into the lane next to him at about 20. We both get on it and he pulls me by about 5 car lengths and that is where we stay up through 4 gear. When we finally came up on traffic he slowed down and motioned me to do the same so i followed him to the side of the rd. I pull up along side him and i quote he said " I hope that isn't a stock WRX , cause i have a tubi exhaust and shorter gears and i couldn't get away from u". Im running IC hoses, uppipe, Turboback w/cat it was a good time.

The fastest stock turbo wrx's trap around 107-108 mph with engine management and boost control. How is it that your wrx with basically a TBE and uppipe was able to keep up with an M5 which traps at ~108mph stock? Why would his car stop pulling on you when M5's pull hard in every gear??

I thought about this as well. This guy is probably trapping 100mph with his mods if he is lucky. There is no way that an M5 would "stop" pulling. I think the M5 just let off. M5 traps at 109mph and only gets much faster after that.

yup, that M5 wasnt pushin it... not even 3/4 throttle...

4.4 L 540IL's (120 less horse than M5) put LS1's in the mirror at 120... from a dig... testament to the true cojones of the german powertrain engineering. Heavier, less powerful, but wickedly fast once rolling..

Well whatever the M5 was doing he pulled over and talked to me which was nice . There is no way that he was half way into it otherwise what would be the point of him pulling over and asking why my car was right with him. Have u ever been in an LS1 becuase it would SMOKE a 5 series at any speed.

    Yep. It took me 330awhp to beat/pass a M5 in 4th gear from a 30mph dig.
