"Why the Hell Are You Trying to Race Me" Volume 1

Guys, post your kill stories that aren't even fair...essentially kind of like the "World's Most One-Sided Fist Fights" on Robot Chicken in Adult Swim...I had 2 this week...

    1) 1999+ Pontiac Grand Am (stock, not GT): Well I'm coming home from work Eastbound on the Schuykill when this douchebag just starts driving like a moron and starts tailgating the hell out of me. F that, I say....dropped it into third, took off, I put a few bus lengths on him, shut down at a little over 100. He comes up next to me as I slow down, let him get a one second head start, dropped gears again, took off, same result. Hey, at least I got home 10 minutes early lol

    2) 2000 or so VW Passatt (not the W8): Again, minding my own business on Kelly Drive going towards the museum...this guy comes within an inch of hitting my back bumper (while in motion mind you) and I'm just like WTF mate...dropped into 3rd, took off, he couldn't even hang it was quite sad. Must've been an automatic. We get to a stoplight, he gets next to me...apparently he has not heard of AWD cars launching from a dig...I gave him a second headstart, perfect AWD launch, bye bye Passatt.

    Kids these days.

some civic with CF hood tried it. We went from a 40 or so mph roll and it wasn't pretty for him.

I don't street race. Nobody should street race. Having said that, I was once driving onto a freeway leisurely and the onramp was a tight U-turn with two lanes merging into one. Suddenly some cretin in a Civic decides to out-turn me, and I had no problem with that at all so I backed off to make sure he had room. He ran out of real estate nonetheless (must have been the decades of experience, the massive power, the top-notch rims/tires, the body kit without paint to add weight, and the overall planning) and drove onto a cement berm, TEARING OFF LARGE CHUNKS of his oh-so-fantastic body kit.

I had to swerve and stop to avoid hitting the piles of rubbish he left on the road. Idiot.

Well I guess I'll add another civic to the thread Going home from a local meet, a new civic si with exhaust wanted to race me. He had a passenger who kept signaling me to line up with them.

So I bite, and tried getting next to them at a light. But before I get next to them, the light was just turning yellow for the opposite side, and the guy launches and takes off on the red light. I went right when it turned green, normal launch, end of 1st gear I'm at his rear fender, 2nd I pulled like a mofo, and shut down once I gained 2 cars on him in 2nd gear.

While I pulled on him in 2nd, the civic's windows were down and the passenger was like "oh sh*t!" while I passed them. It was funnAy

Another civic. I will make it short. Civic pulls up next to me(on the highway) and revs, he takes off and I am like no way. I pull next to him and pass him without much effort. Once I passed him I took it out of gear. I continued to walk away from the civic coasting in neutral. I sounded like he was trying to hang with me, but the civic was no match with my sti's coasting ability.

1991 Red Ford Escort (not even the GT) with racing stripes and a wing on the back so big that it might have caused that front end to lift had he had more than 91hp in that thing.

At first I was like "leave me alone", but he kept egging me on like an annoying knat during the summer so I dropped the hammer for a few seconds. After slowing down he caught up and gave me the thumbs up...I thik he just wanted to see what I could do.

Come to think of it, there is a guy in Macon GA who is probably saying the same thing about me...."Honey, some annoying kid in a WRX kept bugging the sh*t out of me until I put him in his place today"....

I was driving down the highway and i pass this old, beat up, baby blue, rust "enhanced" Datsun pickup truck. As i pass them (barely paying attention) I see a teenage guy driving and an old hillbilly with a beard in the passenger seat. Anyway, i keep driving and a couple of minutes later i notice this huge plume of smoke in my rearview mirror. As i'm looking to see whats going on I notice a faint blue spec SLOWLY emerge from the smoke and SLOWLY gain speed and SLOWLY pass me. I hadn't seen much action in a while so i thought i'd let my car "breathe" a little. I passed them so fast i almost missed seeing the chaw of backer fall out of the old man's mouth. Farther down the road we come to a red light and to my dismay the blue datsun pulls up beside me. The old man rolls down his window, spits some backer juice, and says "good run".

    I know what you're saying.....

Me and my buddy were going to work one day and this beat up crx wanted to race me in traffic. A stop and go traffic for crying out loud. Then as soon as the freeway starts to open up... i let him have good. After 5 minutes of crusing at 75 he finally catches up and still wanted some more. I just shook my head and went on my marry way to work.

Driving a WRX invites challengers – I really hate it when drivers with way slower cars feel obliged to flex their imaginary muscle. I almost never get into such stupid contests. Earlier this week a NA Mitsubishi Lancer felt the need to assert his perceived superiority over my WRX. Fine, go weaving 80+ mph in afternoon pre rush hour traffic. Wow, you won.

There was a late model Chevy Monte Carlo SS I could not resist toying with last month. We were lined first at a light that had just turned green and was about to merge from two lanes into one within about 2/10s of a mile or so. I started out normally, not intending to pull out fast. The Monte floored it trying to gun past me. I thought “NO!” and punched it in second gear. Once the boost came on, it was over. I really irked the Monte driver – they passed me illegally over double yellow lines just before the next intersection, then around a line of traffic from the left turn only lane at the next light.

Perhaps I should have let them think they had the faster car? I really had nothing to prove.

Just after I bought my car a Ford F-150 tried it. I wasn't even really pressing the throttle and he disappeared pretty quickly.

Another great mismatch was a 911 Turbo vs. me on the highway. He slowed next to me and then took off. Easy 25+ car lengths in a few seconds.

Just got my first "race" tonight in the 1969 Chevy Chevelle I am buying from my friend. In case you missed my post in another thread, its got the 454ci LS6 engine from the 1970 Chevelle that was rated at 450hp/500tq. A little mod here, a little mod there and it now puts out somewhere around 550hp/625tq Needless to say, the thing rumbles and vibrates even sitting idle and sounds like a caged beast when reved, its so sweet.

On to the fun. I try not to race on public streets but the road was clear and this guy just deserved it. A 30 something year old yuppie looking guy was next to me in a new Audi TT coupe and was looking at me like he wanted to race. I couldnt tell if he was reving but I wouldnt be able to hear him anyway. Light went green and he took off quick but the light up ahead another 200 yards or so was already turning yellow so I just drove normal and pulled up to him. He looked over and gave a cocky smile like he thought he won or something. I threw a couple revs and I saw his jaw clench up and he looked like he might crap his pants Light goes green and I smoked the tires real quick, got traction and was GONE. By the time I hit 70mph he was at least 4 cars back in my rearview and I put about another full length before I shutdown at 85mph. I have never driven a car this fast and with an auto, that shift kit is pretty damn sweet though, it snaps off shifts perfectly and there is no downtime for the engine as the thing just rips thru the gears.

I will be going to meet up with my racing friends tonight, but its a big surprise since I will have the Chevelle and not the Evo. Should be fun and I will be able to test it in the quarter mile and see how fast it is
