There are still some leftover 2004 LS1 Goats that can be had for less than $25,000. A different cam will put you right with the LS2, and with an extra $6,000+ in your pocket... Just something to consider.

yeah, thats a good point. you save about $5-7k and can get the HP up to the LS2 with $1k in mods.
I dont know though, it seems like more than 50 crank hp difference. The 2 cars are nearly 1 full second apart in 1/4mile times.

A local Chicago 2004 GTO with a cam (+ valvetrain support), pulley,air intake and headers and a dyno tune made 393 RWHP... Stock he made 301 RWHP. The 2004's have a true dual exhaust, only both pipes exit on the same side of the vehicle.

SW Headers / no cats
NGK Plugs/Taylor wires
Speed Inc HFI

.......No other performance mods.

Finally had a nice day and got a dyno tune done:

New Results: 393 (RWHP) / 376 (RWTQ) @ 13.1 a/f

Of course, a 2005 LS2 with those same mods would likely be around 450 rwhp... :drool: You can't go wrong with either one if you're willing to tweak 'em a little bit.
