are mitsu's really that unreliable....? i know domestics are through alot of people i know, alot of my friends have different kinds of mustangs and are always getting serviced, not a huge muscle car/domestic fan(although my next door neighbor has a 9 sec. camaro whooooo!)
Evo's have soooo much potential, in the new super street/modified mag(dont remember which one, i get both of them in the mail) there is 10 sec street evo that is simply gorgeous and its still awd which= amazing handling, dont get rid of it man, you'll miss it!

    KEEP THE EVO!

    Corvette ZO6 engine, sweet interior.
Ummm, why dont you just take that $34K and get an 01/02 Z06? The Z06 is alot faster stock, 500lbs lighter, will hold its value longer and handles and drives MUCH better.

From what I understand he ran this 12.9 @ 107 mph at 3000' elevation. Which equates to a 12.6 @ 110 mph. If this is the same 05 GTO. If guys are pulling 13.1s - 13.4s in 04 GTO's. The 05 should be good for mid to high 12s with the right driver and track conditions.

I just ordered some 275 series drag radials for my 05. I can't wait to get them on the car.

    Interesting thread...

From someone who has been in the auto industry for the last 5 years, I would say GM and Mitsubishi have about the same track record in terms of reliability, with the GMs being .001 % better if anything. Dont forget, you are talking about the LS motor here! How many times have you heard someone say, "...Damn, I just blew the motor in my Vette...."? I see EVOs and Rexs poping trannys and motors every day. Why do you think I sold mine?! I was at 332 to the wheels and the fcuking thing needed a new tranny and block just to reliably run 11's...

Don't get me wrong, the EVO and STI are two of the best street cars in the world. Winter, summer, for $30K you cant go wrong. But it depends on what you want in a car. Will is looking for more top end potential as well as torque on tap... Unless you are gonna spend $20k on the turbo/ motor/tranny of the EVO,... there is no replacing the displacement of 6 liters and simple bolt ons. That motor is made for 400+ stock HP, not 200 and change.

Once the EMS comes out for the LS2, it will open a lot of the motors potential, and I cant wait...

Like someone said, also look into a 02-04 Z06... faster, lighter, and more bad ass... I have a black 2004 for sale with 18k....... Pm me if you are interested.

    KEEP THE EVO!
Sorry if I came across as a domestic fanboy, because I'm not. I'm also quick to correct people who go on their "imports are junk" kicks as well. I just get tired of reading really dumb biased opinions that aren't based on fact.

For GM cars, reliability really depends on the car. I know there's junk like the cavalier. However, my family has owned mostly GM vehicles and they've all had zero major reliability problems. This includes an Astro van that went over 200K miles, an 89 Caddy that has over 260K miles and still runs great. Not to mention my gtp's 3800 engine which is one of the world's most reliable engine period. So I say from experience, not based on what I've heard other people say, that these cars hold up for the long haul.

However, I'm not a GM fanboy either. There's really no new GM cars under 35K I'd even consider buying right now. My next car may be an STI or used 05 GTO a few years from now.

Anyway, I'm sure I had a point here somewhere.....oh yeah, I say go with the car that suits you best.

    GTO=Raw power, nicer interior
EVO= power (though not quite as much), insane handleing

Good luck with whatever you get. And don't let uninformed fanboy's dissuade you from what you really want.

*The insurance on my 2003 WRX was $130 / month...*

*The insurance on my 2005 Corvette is $140 / month*

WRX and EVOs are rated stupid high by insurance companies.
