    2002 WRX vs. 2000 Cougar

Ok so my long time friend and I pull up next to each other on a empty back woods side street. He's in the WRX and I'm in the Cougar. He asks if I'll give the signal. So I beep three times and as I finish the last beep I realize I need my hand on the stick shift inorder to launch properly so I hesitate. Well luckily for me he had a bad launch as well. I finally get the rpms up and launch it out. He had a small jump on me (because of my hesitation) but right away I jumped up about half a car length. I ran 1st out to 6400 and slammed it into 2nd. As soon as I hit 2nd I started to walk until his front was even with my rear bumper. I took 2nd to 6500 shifted to 3rd and took another 2-4 feet on him. We shut it down towards the end of my third about 80-90mph. I won it. I was really excited.

Things you all should know. I love these boards and you have to be the most helpful group of people I know.

My Cougar is far from Stock:
    MSDS Cermic Headers and Y-Pipe
Yo-Dude Dual exhaust with flowmaster muffler
Venom 400 piggy back system (not Nitrous)
    Pro-Flow MAF custom calibrated
    Weapon-R with Apex power intake
SVT Upper intake manifold double honed and extruded
SVT Lower intake with 19lb fuel injectors
    SVT throttle body 60mm
    OMP Strut tower bar
Taylor Plug wires with Bosch Platnium4 Plugs
    ASP Underdrive Pulley 1lb
    Derale front mount oil cooler
    and other cosmetics

Although that night I was racing with 50lb 17in steel chrome rims
Anyway he hasn't yet figured out how to launch it so I figured I'd win anyway. Plus we just installed His AEM Short Ram, GFB BOV, and hi Joe P went in last night. We are still tunning it. So i figure that was my first and only win against him. Alot of times I reffer to the WRX as mine because I have put alot of time in to it and he isn't on these boards so we needed some way to get all the great info you guys provide. LOL Plus I buy all the parts for him and he pays me back.

Listen guys I have done nothing but compliment how civil and friendly this forum is. I'm not trying to troll or start a flame war I was just telling a road story. I understand you guys have Turbos on your cars and yes that makes them fast. Trust me I understand we are modding the crap out of Greg's WRX. I know the car is fast. That is why I said "I think it was my first and only win over the WRX" don't worry there is no need to flex the turbo muscles I know the car can move. I drove it all last night as we set the Joe P.

Plat: Yes I'm sure. Street flight turbo kit came out running stock internals Cougar dyno'd at 267 with 5-8psi
Raised the PSI to 10 ran close to 290hp with larger injectors and 15psi the Cougar will easily hit 315+ I think it would be a great race. Can I afford the kit??? That's another story.

Sweet!!! Your on man. Since you're in OH and I'm in PA, we'll meet up!

Tell me about it. $$$ is the only impediment to speed!

Cool hopefully I can sell somethings and get the $$$ together for the kit. Either way we can race. Either Greg will race you with the WRX or he'll let me race ya

$$$=the devil I'm so broke right now it's not even funny

Me too. After my UTEC and fuel pump, I'll have to wait A LONG TIME before I can afford headers and a FMIC. Fortunately TXS's FMIC isn't coming out until November anyway.

Did I call? What did I call you? no.

lol I don't think some people understand the point of this thread. I posted it because it's a road story. I didn't post because I wanted to challenge a WRX to a race. I understand you guys probably get alot of @$$holes that come through here. But luckily for you I'm not one of them. I'm an actual member of this forum. I participate and help out where ever I can in the engine performance section. I AM NOT A TROLL looking for a race. I just thought you people being car enthusiasts would find it interesting that a Cougar with some heavy modding can take a stock WRX. I know alot of WRX owners wouldn't think twice about a Cougar giving them a run for their money.

But I'm here to change that. LOL In time but not now. Anyway if there are some WRX owners in the Ohio area I know my friend and I would be interested in meeting sometime just to compare mods.

We'll be getting a Mid-Atlantic Meet together soon.

I'll see you there, and no one thinks you are a troll. You as far from a troll as possible!

never been to the track, and i don't plan on going until i get a chip, which will make me Stage 2+
that would make my car a low 13 sec car, although since i've never been to the track before i prob wouldn't be able to get those times.

Sorry guys don't mean to drag this post out.

"i'm just saying your friend *should* be in the 13's"

Yeah after I finish tunning his car it should be in the 13's but when we raced he was bone stock.

Cool, ok thanks guys and keep me up to date on the Mid Atlantic meet we would love to go!!!
