The 2004 S430s and S500s with sport packages do not have the dual chrome outlets. only the 01-02s with sport packages as well as the 02 S55. The 03-05 S500 and S430 sportlines look like AMG cars without the exhaust. Their bodies are identical except for the wheels. Real AMG cars have different (non-monoblock) wheels then the sportline cars. Kinda like the CLK500 or CLK430 and the CLK55 and how they all look so familiar to the average person. I am guessing you raced a S500 Sport. Even the older S55 is still a beast so I dont think you could have hung with that.
    WRX - It's not a rocket. It's a guided missile.

As a former WRX owner, I would believe the WRX would take both the S500 or a S430 from a low speed roll up till 100ish, maybe after that the S500 might walk slowly away.

Now the STi is much different story...Schooled 2 different S500s on the highway recently: 1 from 40 to 100, the other 70 to 120. It was not pretty for them, got an easy bus length on both. The 40 to 100 was coming off an off ramp, so I started behind him. I didn't even shift into 4th for the 70 to 120 run, but he did proceed to do a ricer flybly to get to his exit afterwards...

It was priceless to see the looks on their face when their autobahn crusier gets schooled on the highway by a little subaru, just because they thought they spent more it is a faster car. I really dislike the mercedes benz drivers as a group (non AMG ones) in both in the car or on the bicycle, as they just think that their @#$& don't stink. I have yet to meet an MB owner that does not feel that they are entiled to the road...

I would like to see what happens with a S600 sedan. I know an AMG E55 or S55 would have schooled me on the highway, but that is what they are designed for...

    Its all good!

Funny thing is i saw an older S55 AMG on my way home from work today with the single exhaust on each side. Thats def not what i raced, i raced the latest model and it did have similar exhaust to the older S55 AMG but it was the newer style S-class.

    The car was a CL-500

    MSRP $95,720.00*
    Engine 5.0L 24-valve V-8 engine
    Net Power 302 hp @ 5,600 rpm
    Net Torque 339 lb-ft @ 2,700 - 4,250 rpm

like i said in the first post it was a dead even race from 25-90 or so. The mercedes had an extra passenger. If you look at the pictures of this car on mercedes.com they have the single tip on either side, it also comes in the CL-600 CL-55 AMG and CL-65AMG, it couldn't have been any of the others it had to be the 500 since the others are sick.

    Engine 5.5L 36-valve V-12 engine
    Net Power 493 hp @ 5,000 rpm
    Net Torque 590 lb-ft @ 1,800 - 3,500 rpm

    CL-55AMG

    CL-65AMG
    MSRP $179,820.00*
    Engine AMG-built twin-turbocharged 6.0L SOHC 36-valve V-12

My dad has an S55 AMG(2003 so it is supercharged) It pulled away from our 911 from a stop and roll. Imagine a WRX's lauch at 60 mph and you got an AMG engine.

on second thought, most of the people who debadge didnt buy the bigger motor

i see lots of debadged 325's A4's, celica GT's, but it seems that if you bought the flagship model, youd be proud of it.

An S500 is a very impressive machine, does 50-70 in 2.1 seconds, porsche pooping power

An S430 on the other hand runs high 15's and is overweight for the motor

it was a CL-500 and i think he was giving it his all, i was def in my powerband doing 25mph in 2nd gear and we only went up to the top of third which is around 90mphs, he had an extra passenger. The wrx is quick from a 25mph through third gear, its 4th gear that kills the wrx and he had an extra passenger. I think he was giving it his all. Check the stats on the CL-500 then get back to me.
