Trading in the rex, what should i get?

Well, 3,000 miles after my RA set, third gear grinding is becoming regular. Rallispec suspects a faulty thrid gear synchro. I refuse to put any more money into this car. It has a fuel leak at low temps (20<), and burns oil for a few seconds on startup. I also probably need a clutch in the near future.

Basically, its time to get rid of the rex. Its been a really really fun two years. but my rex is anything but reliable. No car has been entertaining, and AWD launches and donuts are an experience that every enthusiast should enjoy a couple times.

Question: what should i trade it in for? my ultimate goal is reliablilty, then heated leather seats, then performance (great motor)

    V6 Accord
    Maxima
    TL, or TL type S
Jetta 1.8t, or VR6 (nice interior,
    Volvo V70 (wagon!)

All can be had for near the trade value of my rex. Any imput would be great. I ruled out the SRT4 because it doesnt have power windows. Ill miss my rex, but not the bills she leaves me with.

I wasn't aware that there was a TL-S - what are the specs on that? That would be my pick though

mines got 36,000 miles on it... only worth like 14 on a trade in. i only want to spend a few grand, so im looking at used cars in the 18-20k range.

after doing some more research, the TL-S are prone to tranny failure. sucks cuz all the TL's are fully loaded

Im leaning towards a 5th generation 02 3.5L Maxima. xenons, heated leather, sunroof, (all the stuff i wish my wrx had)

I vote for the 1.8T VW. Those can be fun cars.

I've heard VW's 1.8 Turbo is one of the worst motors ever made for reliabilty. Maxima is nice, but for reliabilty, I don't see how you can go wrong with Honda/Acura. My first Acura (90 Integra) was still going after 223k miles and it's still on the road today after I sold it 2 years ago! I know many cars or people will have examples of this, but most of my family and LAZY (as in don't do any work to their cars!) friends have Honda products... they are the closest thing to bullet proof I've ever witnessed!

Mazdaspeed 6? 2004 GTO? Heard the '04's are going cheap with incentives to make way for the '05's.

Otherwise, Maxima, TL-S, G35 or a Legacy GT.

It has power windows in the front and you can purchase power windows for the rear (pretty easy to install) for $176.00

But it sounds like you want more luxury than anything. I pimped a CL-S (same engine as the TL-S) for a couple weeks while my car was down and I really liked it.
