    S2000 vs. STI Encounter

Tom and I decided to dyno our cars today as he hasn't had one done in 2+ yrs and I wanted a baseline reading. Both of our cars are stock ... for now. The 2000 S2000 put down 206whp & 134ft/lbs while my 2004 STI put down 254whp & 265ft/lbs. We did a few runs on the hwy starting at 60-100mph.
When I started in 3rd and had to shift into 4th, I pulled 1-1.5 car lengths however when I started in 4th and didn't have to shift, I pulled 2.5-3 car lengths. I'm definitely happy w/ the STI as I'm sure it'll be a beast w/ a TBE and EcuTek.
    2004 STI White/Gold
    251whp & 263ft/lbs ( Stock ): 0-60 = 4.8 ( Fastest = 4.1 ) & 1/4 = ?
    276whp & 290ft/lbs ( DP ): 0-60 = 4.5 & 1/4 = 12.9 @ 105mph

    Yup

Most Sti's dyno at 225-240 max. My 2004 dynod 237 whp and now.. with Ecutek and TBE I am at 282 whp 19 psi of boost.
I was actually on www.s2ki.com and in there "street encounters" They all seem to have beaten the STi from a "roll" of course.. lol. The smart guys call B.S tho..

    1. Dynojet 424x at www.topspeedsales.com ... they actually guessed 254whp as the 2005 STI's were putting down 258whp. It seems that the average was 250whp with a variance between 240-260whp.

    2. I KNOW a stock STI will beat a stock S2000 all day long from a stop, roll, ahead start, etc. Tom and I run ALL the time as he has a stock 2000 S2000 so it's a good benchmark for me to do mods. My previous Stage 2.5 WRX putting 218whp will beat a stock S2000 all day long.

I race my friend's Comptec superchanger with low boost(7 psi) no exhaust .we wnet from 100km/hr to 200hk/hr. He can only bet me by less than half car. My STI is stock. And i am not ready for that race because i am at 4th gear too, so i think if i am at third gear maybe i can win.

    1. I never had a chance to really tune the UTEC so it was basically uppipe, downpipe, catback, and UTEC = 218whp.

    2. Yes I bought a 2004 STI white/gold ... it's something I always wanted.

    3. I don't think the numbers are off as most people are getting around what they reasonably expect. The numbers are also using the standard SAE corrections.

    Congrates on the STi
Also as you become more familar with the 6 speed, you will get much faster. It took me a long time to instantly know what gear to drop down to and how to make fast consistant shifts. Its very different than a WRX.

I agree ... it's a learning curve. I hardly have time to actually enjoy the car now w/ all the work stuff going on.
