    His car:
    2003 GTi 1.8T
    Revo Chip@18psi
    Turboback exhaust
    Baileys D/V
    Panel Filter
    EIP Motor Mounts
    ESTIMATED Power: 200WHP and 240WHTQ
    My Car:

    2004 WRX
    TurboXS Stealthback (catless)

We ran twice from a 10MPH roll, and both times we ran DEAD even til 80 when we shut down. Now you would all assume he would KILL a WRX especially from a roll! That wasn't even the case. I know had he gone into 4th gear he would have walked away from me, but any faster would have been fairly childish. My friend is largely involved in the VW community and knows VWs real well, and he easily walks VR6s, but said he wasn't suprised at the results of our race. I however, was. I didnt think i would hang with him as long as I did!
So back to the topic at hand. Stock vs. stock, WRX will beat a 1.8T at any speeds, and it should be a drivers race against a 24v VR6 on the highway.

PS-On vortex, search for stone20v if you want to see my buddies GTi. I happen to LOVE it!

That outcome didn't suprise me at all, especially if you are catless. Those cars impress me a lot. Many people dont realize it, but the modability on those is considerably better than that of a wrx's. I would not mind having a 1.8T GTi or Jetta. I almost bought one over the wrx, nice silver 6speed 1.8T but in the end the wrx won me over with its AWD.
I would def. consider one if I had to drop the wrx though.

I am lazy. Can you go over there and link some pics of your buddies car for me?

Dont worry about it. Often the VR6's feel quicker than they are, especially compared to a car like a wrx. The wrx has pretty smooth boost and isnt exactly a torque monster. The hard pull and high torque of the VR6 makes it seem much quicker... particularly from a roll.

DTR-There are some pics of my friend's GTi. The first link is with one set of rims, and the other link is with another set. He loves to keep everyone guessing. I am sure you will enjoy. Let me know what you think!

I think a lot of the feel has to do with the way the car was designed also. A friend of mine has a 3000gt sl and it feels fast from the passenger seat. But when we race, he has no chance against my car, and people dont think it feels fast until I let them drive it.

very nice! I really like that color. I am not really feeling either of the wheels though. The first set is much too plain, and I dont really like that spider spoke look of the second set, though the deep dish on them are pretty nice. I think a nice set of gunmetal wheels would look really nice. Does he have any interior pics?

Their interior is still in the works actually, so no pics other then the stock look. He does have an AWE tuning boost gauge and a TT short shifter. I love that gauge because it lights up blue like the rest of the gauges. He is adding the aluminum trim kit from the R32, the R32 wheel/shifter knob. He would love the Recaros from the 20thAE or GLI, but you lose heated seats and once you have them you tend to get spoiled! I will let you know of more pics once he finishes the interior as well as buys new rims. He is thinking about getting Champion Motor Sports RG5's which are designed for Porsches! He is gracious of the comments btw.

Not to jump on you, but, I think your numbers are off.

275 crank HP is highly optimistic with a K04, which isn't much bigger than the stock K03/K03 sport. This kit gets 242 crank hp:

Heck, even a stage III kit with full fuel upgrade, full turbo-back, FMIC and an even larger Garrett turbo isn't even hitting 300 crank HP

FWIW, I was in the vw world for about 6 years and I owned a big turbo 1.8t gti. A ko4 is a crappy turbo and will never get into the 300whp. I had a garrett gt28rs on my 1.8t and it barely made 310whp and that turbo is much bigger and more effecient than the ko4. And in my 1.8t, I would walk on modded sti's on the freeway. From the dig was a whole different story...Also, vw's don't have up-pipes, just an exhaust manifold, into a turbo, into a dp...

Wish that was the case with the VW owners I know...my friend goes 11's in his GTi, roll races would probably make me slit my wrists

I dont know much about VWs, just know it is cheaper to mod the 1.8T than the VR6 in the power/dollar game that's all...

Upgrade turbo, better exhaust, intercooler, ems,.

    VS

Sick twin turbo kit and all the sheeeat that goes along with it.

I think making the VR6 a twin turbo is gonna cost way more...

It sounds nice and all, but the maintanance is rediculous on turbo VR's and the reliability is even worse. If you dont need "insane" power the 1.8t is a much more logical way to go about it.
